2021 Chrysler Pacifica Review: Exceptional Value

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is but one entry into a crowded minivan market, but it’s a compelling one indeed. It sets itself apart in a few areas, such as price, hybrid availability, and standard safety features. To those searching for a minivan with sleek looks and a relatively low base price, the 2021 Pacifica is a real standout.

What’s New

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica updates come mainly in the form of trim level and optional package changes. For instance, the Touring L now comes with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and heated wheel. The hybrid version is available with a sporty appearance package. All in all, the Pacifica offers the sort of ride one would expect from a new minivan: sufficiently powerful yet quiet.

Notable Interior Features

The 2019 Pacifica seats seven or eight, depending on whether drivers go for the second-row bench seat or captain’s chairs. The third-row seats are spacious enough for most adults. Up front? Everyone will get great visibility, comfortable seating, and a “conversation mirror” that allows drivers to see what’s going on in back.

Instead of a conventional gearshift lever, drivers will find a round dial; the parking brake is activated via a button. The Pacifica’s Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system is extremely intuitive and simple to use. On it, most features are easy to find. Cargo room is adequate in both the hybrid and standard versions. All in all, it’s quite competitive for its class.

Exterior Touches

For this model year, the Chrysler Pacifica comes with a soft, rounded exterior. This makes it stand in stark contrast to some of its boxier rivals. It’s quite difficult to tell the difference between the hybrid and standard version. In fact, apart from some special badging on the hybrid, the only giveaway is a covered AC plug on the left-front quarter panel.

Trim Levels and Equipment

The 2021 Pacifica comes in six different trim levels. While the base model (the L) has a temptingly low price when compared to its rivals, it lacks some of the amenities one may want. However, all Pacifica models come with the SafetyTec package, which includes parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring. The LX adds touring suspension, triple zone climate control, wheel-mounted audio buttons, and alloy wheels. The Touring Plus trim is the way to go for those who need power doors. This trim also adds a power lift gate, second-row sun shades, and auto climate control.

Options

On higher trims, drivers can find features such as an upgraded Uconnect system, leather seating, ventilated and heated front seats, and an integrated vacuum for easy cleanup of the rear seating area. Options include a parallel-park assist system, upgraded audio, and heated second-row seats.

The Advanced SafetyTec package is available on higher trims. It bundles auto braking, forward-collision warning, a surround-view camera, and adaptive cruise control. An available rear-seat entertainment setup includes 10″ screens, USB inputs, a Blu-ray player, and HDMI access ports. hybrid models have largely the same features and options, with 18″ wheels and a panoramic sunroof being the only standalone options.

Power and Performance

The base powertrain in the 2021 Pacifica is a 3.6 L V6 that gets up to 28 mpg in highway driving conditions and 19 for city driving. For greater fuel economy, all Pacificas (except for the base model) come with a start-stop system. The hybrid is a plug-in minivan. While it has a V6 engine, it can be supplemented by battery-powered electric motors and can go up to 33 miles on battery power only. The hybrid options come in three trim levels: Touring Plus, Touring L, and Limited.

Pricing

The 2021 Pacifica is competitively priced, with an MSRP of $26,985 for the base model. However, those who are interested may do better with a step up to the LX, which starts at $29,795. The top-tier Limited starts at $44,445.

Final Thoughts

There’s a reason this minivan has won Consumer Guide’s Best Buy several years in a row. With plenty of customizable options, trim levels, and competitive pricing, this minivan is designed to please.
