Save Money and Eliminate Waste On K-Cups and Keurig Coffee

If you have a Keurig machine, you know how easy it is to get accustomed to making a morning Joe just one cup at a time. You might even have packed your old 12-cup-pot coffee maker high on a shelf somewhere. Even though it’s convenient, it’s hard not to feel that little cringe when purchasing K-Cups, and an even bigger cringe as they’re thrown away. Although they are a convenient option for brewing everyone’s favorite morning beverage, it’s a cost that does add up, both dollar-wise and environmentally. There are options available, however, that can help save money and eliminate waste.

Coupons

Using coupons is one of the easiest ways to save on K-Cups. The trick here is learning to be flexible and patient. Having a few different types of brands and flavors makes it much easier to find coupons that can help customers save at least a few dollars. Waiting and matching coupons up to a local store’s sales can increase savings even more. Besides looking in the Sunday paper, there are plenty of other ways to find that perfect coupon:

1. Go directly to the brand’s website. Request them by asking directly or getting on the company’s mailing list. It might come as a surprise, but many manufacturers are willing to give away coupons to those who simply ask! Mailing lists are also popular ways for companies to provide offers to their potential customers.

2. Go directly to Google and search for K-Cup coupons. This will give interested individuals literally dozens of results for coupons that can be printed online, as well as websites that have free printable coupons like Coupons.com.

3. Purchase multiple coupons from eBay. Yes, people do sell coupons on eBay. While this means that there will be a charge for a coupon, there are good odds that someone will save more via the coupon than what was spent on the actual coupon itself.

4. Purchase from a coupon clipping service like The Coupon Clippers. They currently offer over 800 coupons for 1.00 off a box of Eight O’Clock Coffee K-Cups. These sell for roughly 12 cents each, meaning there is a net saving of 88 cents per box.

Amazon

This online retailer regularly offers deals on coffee pods through its auto-ship plan. They also often offer Prime members the opportunity to purchase a $50.00 Amazon gift card to earn $15.00 in credit. Both the gift card and the credit can be used for any subsequent purchases on this site, including coffee pods. When shopping for K cups on Amazon, always look for the lowest price per cup.

Reusable Pods and Accessories

Why not go green while also saving money? There are reusable K cups for around $2.50 each (on Amazon). They have several different models available from different manufacturers. Simply fill the cups up with your favorite ground coffee and reuse them over and over. This can add up to some substantial savings over time. Make sure that you get the correct reusable cup size for the Keurig model you own.

You can also reuse your old K-Cups several times before throwing them out, thanks to this handy product: My-Kap. For $9.99 (on Amazon) you can get three reusable lids and a cleaning brush. Take the foil off the top of your used K-Cup, rinse all of the parts out and replace them. Then, fill it up with new coffee, put the lid on, and you now have a brand-new K-Cup to use.

Use A Reward App

A reward app like Ibotta gives cash back the purchase of items from their weekly shopping list (this includes coffee). Just download the app and add some of your favorite stores. Search for deals on coffee, scan the barcode, and take a photo of the receipt. One of the best features of apps like Ibotta is that they can be used in conjunction with other coupons and sales, so savings can really add up over time.
